AC Industries Wide 5 Brake Conversion Kits
I bought the front #498770 and rear #133698601E kits about a year ago. I need help, can I change the rotors to a 5 x 205 bolt pattern?
Hi Raymond,
AC Industries disc brake kits are designed to be very interchangeable. We have created a new kits to convert the 4-lug style disc brake to the 5 x 205. The kit you need to convert the front brakes to use a wide-5 rotor for your ’73 Bug is part #498440 and for the rear use the #113615601DN rotors. The ’73 Bug came stock with long spline axles. It’s really good idea to confirm the axle spline length in your car before you order as they could have possibly been changed at some point. It’s better to know what you’re working with so you get the right parts the first time!
Our new caliper is a single piston, full floating caliper that is narrow enough to fit in the space between the rotor face and the mounting flange for the large 205mm lug pattern. This is the yet another first of its kind from AC Industries! To all the other readers, this kit will bolt on to most ball joint stock or lowered common 4-lug disc brake spindles that accept the #3116151078 two piston calipers. The stock fitment would be 1967-1974 Ghia and 1966-1971 T-3. This upgrade will also work on our AC Industries “No Hassle” disc brake adapter brackets that convert drum brakes to disc brakes! The kit comes with two rotors with the 5 x 205mm lug pattern, two floating calipers, a set of hardened bolts and serrated lock washers and braided stainless steel hoses with 90º hoses ends. We offer two kit numbers with different length hoses.
• Basic Wide 5 Brake Conversion Kit with 18” hoses, fits ’62-’66 Type 3 & ’66 Bug & Ghia
• Basic Wide 5 Brake Conversion Kit with 15” hoses, fits ’67-’77 Bug, Ghia & Type 3
Thanks,
Andy
