Fuel pump installation, use gasket sealant or install dry?

I have a ’72 Super Beetle and want to install a new fuel pump. Do I have to put sealant on the gaskets or can use the gaskets dry without sealant?

Hi Oswaldo,

Anytime you are working on the motor it is good to use a sealer on the component you are installing. I would recommend that you clean the case, insulator and the fuel pump. Make sure that the old gasket material and sealer has been removed from all of parts. I recommend using Aviation Form-A-Gasket. Gasoline disolves silicone, so doen’t use silicone sealer.
