Hi! My son had a minor fender bender in his 66 bug. I need a new left fender. How can I make sure I am buying the right one? Ours has a light on the top? but the one you have that has that hole says it is for a 67? Help!

Hi Kristin,

Sorry to hear about the accident. OK Help is here! I will try to keep this short but still give you the info you will need to make the best decision. From 1954 to 1966 VW made several different front fenders that have minor differences. All these years later, VW is not making fenders for Bugs anymore. Now there is only one factory in the world in Italy that produces a fender for a 1966 and older Bug. This fender is not identical to any of the original parts. It is the most like the 1964 to 1966 Bugs, but it does not have the hole for the turn light, that has to be added by the end user/installer. This is because the car was made in several factories around the world and some did not have the fender turn light. It is easier to add the hole than to fill it in. It is not that difficult. My suggestion is to take a piece of paper and make a template on the opposite side, using the body to fend line as a guide. Take off the light from the opposite side and trace where the holes are. Flip the paper over and draw out where you will cut the holes on the new fender.

It is our companies recommendation to sell fenders in pairs so that you will always know that they match left to right. If you order just one, we cannot guaranty that ours will match exactly the one on your car.

Lastly, a 1967 fender has a completely different headlight than a 1966. If everything on your car is correct for 1966, they will not match.

Hope this all helps!

Andy
